A Review

Wonderful pictures and just the right amount of text
Superb pictures of the great Angkor Wat temple without cheesy photoshop editing and an easy to read text. This new guide book is a wonderful souvenir for everybody who already visited Cambodia and gives everybody else an idea why you should put Cambodia on top of your travel-wish list.

The Devatas and Apsaras of Angkor E-Book

Sensuous Goddesses and Sexy Dancers

Illustrations in this E-Book are in black and white.

Roaming through Angkor, one will encounter breathtaking images of women.

I have always been and still am attracted by their beauty, their marvellous faces, their hairdos and their gestures.

I used to be confused because they are bare breasted, unashamed and uninhibited.

They are called Apsaras or Devatas, but who are they?

I have tracked down their images in many temples. Here are the results of my research.

Beside the Devatas and Apsaras, I found other marvels: the Gandharvas and the Neariphals.

All in all, they are presented with seventy photos – assorted and explained in context.

The Author

Reinhart has tracked down Khmer temples in Angkor and abroad since the year 2000; he has got acquainted with them and their history. He knows his way around the temples, in Angkor as well as at the faraway sites. Above all, he looks at the historical, mythological and local context.

He has collected thousands of photos of Khmer temples.

He has gained comprehensive and updated background knowledge by studying the relevant literature till to the latest issues. He admires the work of the researchers and tries hard to present and cite their findings correctly.

Reinhart is a competent guide, speaking German, English and some French.

Praise for the Author

A statement of Sachchidanand Sahai:

"Leaving the trodden path of stereotype guidebook writing, Reinhart has delved deep into the heart of Angkor civilization. His standard guidebook offers the most authentic information and interpretation of Angkor, supported by meaningful photographs and maps.
I hope this timely publication will save Angkor from being drowned in the flood of banality.
(Professor Sahai “is undoubtedly one of the greatest living experts on ancient Cambodia”, said the late King Norodom Sihanouk.)
